The Chancellery
O.C.P. · Est. 2019
The Order of the Christ Pantocrator is not called to be a repository of brick and mortar, nor to manage the financial overhead of physical parishes. Our cathedral is the public square, and our diocese is the Independent Sacramental Movement (ISM).
We exist to serve as an institutional anchor and a unifying public voice for independent sacramental communities worldwide: Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and other traditions. Rooted in the ecumenical, conciliar spirit of the Independent Sacramental Movement, we champion the normalization and protection of a married clergy at all levels of Holy Orders—including our Priests, Bishops, and Chancellery.
By removing the burden of local parish real estate, our College of Cardinals operates in its truest historical sense: as a “hinge” (cardo) connecting isolated micro-churches, publishing clear canonical guidelines, and providing a cohesive, dignified public voice for independent Christians across traditions who affirm a married clergy and local autonomy. We do not build walls; we build the bridges that unify the independent faithful.
The Order professes the Nicene Creed and is governed in council by its General Synod, with the High Chancellor as Primate.
The name of our Order comes from one of the oldest titles of Christ in Christian tradition. Pantocrator (Greek: Παντοκράτωρ) joins two words, pas, “all,” and kratein, “to rule” or “to hold.” It means “Ruler of All” or “Sustainer of All.”
The title presents the risen and glorified Christ, fully divine and fully human, who reigns over all creation and holds it in being.
We take our name from this image because Christ is the head of His Church. Our ministry is offered in His name and to all people. As our motto says, Ex Alto Ad Omnes: from on high, to all.
Intercommunion, not subjugation. The Order is a servant guild and ally. Through friendship concordats we recognise one another’s orders and sacraments while each jurisdiction keeps its own governance, appointments, finances and property. We make no jurisdictional, territorial or financial claims over anyone.
